Madison Elementary Celebrated Red Ribbon Week
Say No to Drugs
October 30, 2009
Madison Elementary celebrated Red Ribbon Week October 26-30. The week began with everyone wearing red on Monday. Proud to be Drug Free bracelets were handed out and Pledge Cards were signed. Wednesday door decorations were judged. Each door received an award and prizes were passed out including free meals from Applebees. On Thursday, the high school students presented an assembly promoting the message "I've got better things to do than drugs". After arriving at the high school theatre, elementary students enjoyed listening to the band, and participated in chants and cheers led by the cheerleaders. A PowerPoint presentation highlighted seniors Drew McVey, Shelby Buster, Henry Ott, Victoria Dean, and Olivia Casey doing things other than drugs. Thanks to Olivia Casey for producing the PowerPoint. The Show Choir, led by Mr. Barrett, sang a closing song and the elementary students were off to their own school for more activities. At stations throughout the building, students decorated red ribbon cookies with red sprinkles, made necklaces, jumped rope and played games led by Mr. Griffin. Several junior high students helped at the face painting station. A special thanks to everyone who helped make Red Ribbon Week an inspirational event for Madison Elementary students.
