Junior Logan Barker Places First in Kansas Read Aloud Contest
March 24, 2009
MHS Junior Logan Barker was one of four winners in the Kansas National Education Association's Read Aloud contest. The contest, part of the KNEA’s observance of Read Across America 2009, encouraged students in elementary and secondary schools to write a letter to an author, living or dead, whose work had affected their perception of the world or themselves. The students then recorded their letters. Logan’s letter was written to George Orwell (the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair), the author of “1984.” Logan is the son of Linda and Troy Barker of Hamilton.
