Burlington Robotics Meet

           Two Madison Elementary and eight Jr. High  students participated in the Burlington Middle School Robotics Meet held Wednesday, January 14..  The robots were all built from a Lego Mindstorms kit which has a programmable RCX  or NXT transmitter. Events in which the robots participated were:  Capture the Flag individual, Capture the Flag Tournament, Maze Race, Ratio Run, 25Foot Run and 100 Foot Run.  58 teams from  22 schools(120 total students) had built and programmed a robot  for the competitions.

         Madison students were very successful in the competitions.  MJH students, Braxton Butler and Madison Eaton were 1^st  place winners of the Robotics Olympic Championship.  This was a combination of all points earned during the meet.  Another Madison team with Piper and Tristan Brandt placed 2^nd in the Robotics Olympic Championship and  Sam Davis placed 6^th.  With 58 teams competing this was an impressive accomplishment.

      The following  are the winners of the individual events: Braxton and Madison won 1^st in the individual Capture the Flag, 2^nd in Maze Race and 6^th in the Capture the Flag Tournament.  Piper and Tristan were first in the 100 foot race and 3^rd in the Ratio Run.

        Other students participating from Madison were  Sammy Bond, Cassidy Barnard, Brenda McCollum, Tyler Farthing and Rebekah McVey.
